(Vista, CA) -- A man and woman pleaded guilty today in Vista Superior Court for their part in a convenience store robbery that led to the shooting death of an accomplice. Armando Alvarez, a Mexican Citizen, will be sentenced to nine years in state prison for his part in the robbery in Vista. He was already facing a four-year federal prison term for re-entering the U.S. illegally after being deported. He'll begin serving the state sentence when the federal term is over. Alvarez and Jorge Ramirez robbed a store in the Shadowridge area last July. They were intercepted by Sheriff's Deputy Mark Ritchie during their getaway. Ritchie shot Ramirez to death and arrested Alvarez after both fled on foot. Alvarez's 24-year-old girlfriend, Ariana Cristal Sosa pleaded guilty to being an accessory after the fact and concealing the identity of a felon. She will most likely be put on probation. Sentencing was set for March 14th. | |
